NHS ambulance services play a crucial frontline role in delivering urgent and emergency healthcare.

The priority is no longer getting patients to hospital as fast as possible. Ambulance clinicians deliver mobile treatment services to provide care in patients' homes or other community settings, or give advice over the phone.

There's also a team of people with different roles who provide vital back-up, as well as the non-emergency Patient Transport Service, that is so valued by the community.
