NHS Scientist Training Programme - 2019 recruitment

Applications for the graduate-entry NHS Scientist Training Programme (STP) 2019* open on 9 January 2019.

The STP is an exciting postgraduate training programme providing an accredited MSc in Clinical Science that leads to eligibility to apply for clinical scientist status.

*There is an annual intake in September each year and, for 2019 entry, the recruitment cycle will open on Monday 9 January 2019. 

Getting in

For entry you must have a 1st or 2.1 either in an undergraduate honours degree or an integrated master’s degree in a pure or applied science subject relevant to the specialism for which you are applying.

If you have a 2.2 honours degree or better in any subject, you will also be considered if you have a higher degree* that is relevant to the specialism for which you are applying.

(*Higher degree as defined on page 17 of The Frameworks for Higher Education Qualifications of UK Degree-Awarding Bodies Please note this does not include postgraduate diplomas or postgraduate certificates.)

Healthcare science specialisms available through the STP

Postgraduate training for the STP leads to a specifically commissioned and accredited Master's degree and certification of achievement of work based training. The programme offers *specialisms based around the following themes.

Applications

Recruitment to the Scientist Training Programme (STP) in 2019 is being coordinated by the National School of Healthcare Science (NSHCS). Applications for the STP are made online through the portal on the NSHCS website.

Direct entry applications

Applications to the Scientist Training Programme for direct entry open at 1pm on Wednesday 9 January 2019 and close at 5pm on Friday 8 February 2019. Applications after this date will not be accepted.

In-service applications

Applications for in-service applicants open at 1pm on Wednesday 9 January 2019 and close at 5pm on Tuesday 5 March 2019. Applications after this date will not be accepted.
