Preparing to apply

Your application to medical school will include a number of stages:

  • you need to be aware of the different types of medical school courses [1] available
  • it’s important to be aware of a range of factors when choosing your medical school [2]
  • your UCAS application [3] will include writing a strong personal statement
  • you need to be prepared for medical school interviews [4]
  • medical schools will expect you to have found out about the role of a doctor and what it's like working in healthcare. They’ll also want evidence of your skills. Gaining experience for medical school [5] can include shadowing, volunteering, paid work and other opportunities
  • most medical schools expect you to sit admissions tests [6]
  • you need to be aware of your options if you haven’t got into medical school [7]
