"For me, career progression is really important, as it will bring personal fulfilment.’"
Having arrived from Zimbabwe, Thomas is enjoying his new role as a trainee practice nurse. He has big ambitions to go much higher in his career. Listen to his story and hear how he is embracing every opportunity to progress and succeed.
"For me career progression is really important, because it will bring personal fulfilment. Currently, I am taking this role as a Trainee Practice Nurse so I can be a Practice Nurse and after that, that won’t be my end goal, I’m seeing myself progressing to advanced practitioner or a prescriber and that won’t end there, I’m seeing myself in the management, so something I would want to progress. So, in the NHS there are opportunities and there are always these platforms where you can progress your career.
"I would want to end up in a managerial position, let me say like a matron for GP practice, or maybe sit in the board, just being a nursing director so I can also assist other nurses coming through and develop them through the system. So, I don’t want to be stagnant, I want to progress in my roles."
